With Other Users
When you post an activity request or accept another user's request, certain profile information โ including your display name, profile photo, and activity request details โ becomes visible to other users of the Platform. You control what information appears in your public profile.

Business Transfers
If Cheers Mate undergoes a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via in-app notice or email before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties in any other circumstances where you have provided your explicit prior consent.
We Never Sell Your Data: Cheers Mate does not and will not sell your personal information to data brokers, advertisers, or any third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.
Location Data
Location is central to Cheers Mate's functionality โ it helps you find activity requests near you. We handle location data with care and only with your permission.
How We Use Location
- To display nearby activity requests relevant to your area
- To suggest appropriate meeting venues or neighborhoods
- To improve match quality based on geographic proximity
Your Control Over Location
- Location access is permission-based โ you must explicitly grant the app access to your device's location through your operating system settings
- You may use approximate location (neighborhood or city level) rather than precise GPS coordinates where the feature permits
- Location data is collected only while the app is in active use โ we do not collect background location data
- You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings, though this may limit certain features
Location Data Retention
We do not permanently store your precise GPS coordinates. Location data used for request matching is processed in real time and retained only for the minimum period necessary to provide the relevant service feature, after which it is deleted or aggregated into anonymized form.
No Location Sharing with Companions: Your precise location is never shared with other users. Only a general neighborhood or area is visible in connection with your activity request, as specified by you when creating the request.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
| Data Category | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Account & profile data | Until account deletion, then 30 days before permanent erasure |
| Activity request history | 12 months from activity date, then anonymized |
| In-app messages | 90 days after the associated activity, then deleted |
| Precise location data | Not permanently stored โ processed in real time only |
| Safety & misconduct reports | Up to 3 years to support safety investigations |
| Log and technical data | 90 days, then deleted |
| Terms/EULA acceptance records (date, time, version, IP) | Duration of account plus 5 years, to evidence contractual consent |
| Legal hold data | Retained for duration of legal proceedings |
After the applicable retention period, data is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymized. Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement purposes.
Data Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:
- Encryption of data in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security)
- Encryption of sensitive data at rest
- Password hashing using industry-standard algorithms โ we never store plaintext passwords
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
- Regular security assessments and vulnerability reviews
- Incident response procedures in the event of a data breach
No Absolute Guarantee: Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data. In the event of a security breach affecting your rights, we will notify you in accordance with applicable Florida law (Fla. Stat. ยง 501.171) within the legally required timeframe.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Please use a strong, unique password and notify us immediately at security@cheersmate.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
